SKC Sampling kits save you time and money by including all or the
equipment and sample media needed to sample for silica, lead, or oil mist.
Each kit also contains step-by-step sampling guides for the compound of
interest.
Silica
OSHA continues its focus on crystalline silica as many
workers are overexposed to this hazardous compound with the risk of
developing silicosis. An important part of any silicosis prevention
program is ongoing personal air sampling. The money-saving SKC Silica Air
Sampling Kit provides all of the equipment and materials needed to
effectively monitor worker exposure to crystalline silica.

Lead The lead industry's voluntary initiative to reduce worker
exposure to lead continues. Its primary goal is to reduce lead levels from
50 µg/100 g to 40 µg/100 g over a five-year period for workers involved in
lead-based manufacturing. Because personal air sampling is essential for
monitoring worker exposure, SKC created the economical Lead Air Sampling
Kit with all of the equipment and materials necessary for easy lead
sampling.

Oil Mist
Oil mist can greatly reduce respirator efficiency
without warning. Because of this hazard, NIOSH issued Guideline No. 96-101
that allows a choice in the type of non-powered air purifying respirator
filter based on the presence or absence of oil mist. According to 42 CFR
84, the three levels of respiratory protection are: Not resistant to oil
(N-series), Resistant to oil (R-series), and Oil-proof (P-series). The
economical SKC Oil Mist Air Sampling Kit makes sampling for the presence
of oil mist quick and easy. If oil mist is not present, the less expensive
N-series filters can be used at a significant cost savings. Follow NIOSH
Method 5026 when sampling for oil mist.

Formaldehyde
Formaldehyde is commonly used as a preservative and
an adhesive. Formaldehyde gas can be released indoors from particleboard,
laminated furniture and cabinets, furniture and floor finishes, smoking,
fuel-burning appliances, paneling, fabrics, and drapes. A strong irritant,
formaldehyde can cause burning in the eyes, nose, and throat. Some
individuals are even highly sensitive to low concentrations of
formaldehyde and display a variety of symptoms including wheezing,
coughing, and headaches.
