Made of surgical-grade
polyurethane foam (PUF), these specially-cleaned squares are available in
a holder, or individually, for attachment to skin or clothing for the
sampling of herbicides.
NIOSH method 9201 for Chlorinated and
Organonitrogen Herbicides is a passive sampling methodology that uses
dermal polyurethane foam (PUF) patches in aluminized holders (SKC Cat. No.
578-002) attached to a worker's clothing or skin. This method is suitable
for measuring levels of herbicides that may be absorbed by a worker.
The dermal patches, in aluminized holders or individually, are
clipped onto a worker's clothing or taped to the skin in various locations
where absorption may occur. After sampling, the patches are transferred to
glass jars, desorbed with isopropanol, and analyzed by gas
chromatography/electron capture detection (GC-ECD).
